Going Back to School, Stylishly.

I signed up for Style School the other day (thankfully they had last minute registration for slow-pokes like me!). I nervously took the plunge into this 6 week creative experience because I needed focus. Focus to hear my own creative voice and to help me get organized.

To get started, as I was late signing up (most students signed up and started their homework way back in November of 2009), I decided to create a quick Inspiration Canvas. Basically, a few of my favourite things to inspire me to begin filling my Style File. (I threw in a vintage teapot I love, my new colour markers, frames I bought long ago to do something with, a vintage tie, my big blue ceramic rooster, my little sassy red kitty, a favourite teacup, some faux pearls & a vintage brooch, some embroidery, vintage fabric, my grandma's old embroidered pillow, a handmade stuffy critter by a dear friend, an original watercolour painting by my goddaughter):

There are so many other inspirational motivations to get me into a creative space (vintage buttons, Breakfast at Tiffany's, bits and pieces from my Buttercup past, old photographs, cupcakes ... oh the list goes on!) - but I threw this sampling together in mere minutes. One needs to start somewhere!

Once you start, you can then begin. It feels good to have begun something.

I don't even mind that my entire living room is now housing this creative spark; messily so!
